Pack of Whingers

As a ratepayer of Monash and Oakleigh I dont want my money being squandered on a white elephant.
A couple of years ago the council closed the pool because no-one was using it. The do-gooders who have nothing better to do and havent used the pool in years kicked up a stink and the council gave it another chance.
Still no-one used it...
Everyone keeps saying how the schools use it every day of February and early March so it is getting used - yet the pool still lost money - showing the complete lack of interest that this pool has among the public. If a business is losing money it closes down. The same should be for the pool.
The teenagers complain that there is nothing else to do except for chadstone and that costs money. im sorry if you cant entertain yourself thats what happens if you get ipods instead of games. And if you want money get a job. i am only 20 and from the age of 12 had a catalogue round on weekends. money doesnt grow on trees - you have to GET OFF YOUR ARSE.
I just think that its amazing that for a facility that no-one uses there are so many people complaining - just shut the dump - and while your at it the mouths of all the whingers who havent swam at the pool since 1982.
Phil
Hey Phil, are you for real?
Sue
Many of us are upset to see the pool close because we got OFF OUR ARSES and spent four years of our lives working to raise money for the pool. I was one of those kids, and boy did I work, but none of the money went into my pocket - it went to pay for the pool so that people like you, Phil, could use it in the years to come.
Why didn't you use it? Perhaps it wasn't open when you wanted to use it. Did you know it only opened from December to mid March, and only from noon to 6pm? Perhaps you were working during those hours?
The pool has never been run as a business. For years it hasn't been run at all, it has just hobbled along
Did you know the pool is part of the Oakleigh Recreation Centre and the council hasn't lost any money on it? The ORC has always made money and it's not run by the council, but the council gets a slice of the profit.
Guess what? Those whingers who fought to keep the pool open in 2002 also offered , several times, to form working bees and help with the maintenance of the grounds and the change rooms but the council wouldn't have a bar of it. Instead of doing work on the pool such as heating it and fixing the filter system so that the pool could be open longer hours, and so more people could use it, the council did nothing, apart from closing the toddlers pool so LESS PEOPLE COULD USE IT.
By the way, I last used the pool in March 2006.

Phil,
I’m a 14 year old and I’m not yet old enough to work, so Chadstone isn’t always an option for me. I can usually entertain myself but when it’s hot the pool is the best place to go to cool down. The pool isn’t only for recreation either, last year and the year before I did a lot of practise for swimming carnivals in the Oakleigh pool.
The main reason the pool is loosing money and not many people use it is because it is so run down and needs work done on it.
