Solar

Gooday all - this is my first epistle, I have not been active with CLAG since the early days with the fight over Clayton pool.
To summarise a couple of points I feel strongly about --
Firstly how many ratepayers are there in Monash, do we know? Surely all the council has to do to raise funds is strike a levy on all ratepayers that is completely transparent for a given number of years. Ratepayers receive a discount over "outsiders" to use the pool as some compensation.
If that ego-maniac twit Kennett can get away with a $100 'poll tax' surely the council could charge $10[?] and not cause any anger in the community?

Re design: Even if it is too expensive as yet to install solar heating etc. any building must have a gable roof with the ridge oriented East/West or a scillion roof with a down sploping face so that panels for water heating or voltaics can efficiently face NORTH.
Speaking as an electrician of 50 years experience I know that engineers and architects are often over educated, over paid, under intelligent nuisances with little regard to sensible and efficient planning [look at the housing being built today!!] and they must be told!
I tried telling some Council engineer at a meeting re the Clayton pool some years back and was given the expected look of disdain.
